What is a TCA peel?
A trichloroacetic acid peel (TCA) is a cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatment that we use to remodel skin to improve texture, acne, firmness and pigmentation. These peels should not be mistaken for the mild and gentle glycolic peels. The most common TCA treatment concentration is between 15%-30% for the face, with a typical recovery time of 6-8 days
•Signs of ageing
•Uneven skin texture
Can all skin types be treated?
The Skin tech TCA peel can be used on all types of skin, normal or fine skin, and greasy or thick skin. It is still important for a EWC therapist to assess your skin, and to discuss the results that you are expecting. Your treatment plan and budget will be individualised around your own needs and treatment protocol.
How is the treatment performed?
Before the TCA treatment, the skin is cleansed. The appropriate concentration of TCA is then evenly applied until the necessary depth is reached. The TCA spot treatment can be used (at no extra cost) simultaneously on darker age spots on the skin. A slight stinging of the skin could be experienced. A post peel mask is applied once the desired end point is reached to calm the skin, and to reduce inflammation and discomfort.
The peel solution will then cause the layer of skin to separate and peel off. The new regenerated skin underneath is usually smoother, less aged and more even in tone and colour than the old skin cells that have accumulated at the surface over time!
Post peel care is mandatory!
Peels need to be done in bi-weekly intervals, and the number of peels required will be determined by the condition that we are treating. The relevant homecare products which will be skin condition specific will be included in the package bought and must be used after peeling to improve the ultimate results.
